The short version
We never sell your data and never share it with advertisers, and there is no ad tracking in the app. Your data lives on your device, and when you are signed in it is also backed up to our secure cloud so it survives a reinstall and syncs across your devices. We collect basic usage analytics to help us improve the app.
Location data
LockedOut uses your location to detect when you arrive at or leave places you've saved, like your gym, office, or library. This happens automatically in the background so you don't have to manually check in every time.
Location matching happens on your device in real time, and we don't keep a history of where you've been. The places you save (like your gym) are stored with the rest of your data, and when you're signed in they're included in your cloud backup so they sync across your devices.
Camera and photos
If you use the clean room feature, the app accesses your camera to take a photo of your room. That photo is sent to Anthropic's Claude for verification and is not stored after the check is complete. No photos are saved to any server or shared with anyone.
Health and fitness data
If you connect Apple Health, LockedOut reads data such as your workouts, steps, heart rate, and nutrition so features like check-ins and stats can work. This data is used to run those features and, when you're signed in, is included in your cloud backup. It is never sold and never used for advertising.
Data storage
Your data is stored on your device. When you're signed in, it's also backed up to our secure cloud so your progress isn't lost if you reinstall or switch devices. This backup can include what you log in the app: check-ins, saved locations, workouts and health data, meals, journal entries, mood, screen time, streaks, rules, and settings. If you use the app without an account and delete it, your local data goes with it. You can request deletion of your cloud data by contacting us.
Cloud data is processed via Supabase (hosted in the US/EU). Data is retained for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion within 30 days by contacting us.
Analytics and tracking
We collect basic product analytics, such as which features you use and key in-app actions, to understand how the app is working and improve it. We do not use advertising SDKs, we don't track you across other apps or websites, and we never sell your data. Analytics are tied to your account so we can support you, not to build an advertising profile.
Third party services
LockedOut uses RevenueCat to manage subscriptions. RevenueCat processes your purchase through Apple and may receive anonymised transaction data. You can read their privacy policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.
The clean room feature uses Anthropic's Claude for image analysis. Photos are sent for processing and are not retained after verification. Anthropic's API has a zero-day data retention policy — your photos are not stored after analysis. You can read their privacy policy at anthropic.com/privacy.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Most of your data is stored locally on your device and can be deleted by uninstalling the app. For cloud data related to social features, contact us to request deletion.

Children
LockedOut is not designed for children under 13. We don't knowingly collect any information from children.
